Thoughts on the Russo-Ukranian War?

I suspect Putin is calling in a lot of markers to sway opinion, it will be interesting to see how much more value he has given the lack of Russian military success.
What Slovakia says and what it does may be buried in the semantics of their comments much in the same way Poland's comments about not sending "New" heavy equipment to Ukraine obscured the fact that the heavy equipment they have been sending is not new so it was a largely meaningless comment designed to placate the pro-Putin factions in Poland more than anything else.

Sadly I think this is the most accurate story I have seen in a while...

I have been meaning to ask this for a while now, does anyone have any views on the performance of Western tanks/armour so far in the conflict?
Some seem to be panning them as unsuitable while others have said they are less a breakthrough weapon and more a really large snipers rifle, most of the crews I have seen interviews of seem to rate them above the Russian ones.

It is hard to say. We haven't seen much of tank on tank battles. The western tanks have a better protection and increase the survivability of the crew. However both are disabled by mines. I reacted when I saw the first Leopard being out of action and the Bradleys around it. It looked like how a lot of Russian vehicles were knocked out in the beginning of the war.

One thing I have noticed is that when it comes to armour getting up close and personal with trenches and fortifications Ukraine seems to use Russian tanks and when they want to pick off individual targets they will use western tanks, the CV-90 seems a hit and the M-113 is all over the place, I am wondering how it would go as an anti-drone vehicle.

I read the Aussies will provide Ukraine with an anti drone system.

The western tanks might work better with mechanized infantry, artillery, close air support when and if the Ukrainians are able to break through the Russian defenses and the western tanks can be used to hit specific targets when they support the infantry. This war has going the full circle and tanks are used to support the infantry instead of having the infantry supporting tanks.

I don't know if any of us has mentioned the issues when both sides have more or less the same equipment. It increases the risk for blue on blue accidents

At this point I think the tank has assumed a role similar to the German Sturmgeschütz.

The vehicle that seems to be well liked is the CV-90.

It is pretty new and yet IFVs are easy to take out when they aren't well protected. The CV-90 is much more comfortable for the infantry squad than the BMP and the M-113.

Just to be clear a suspensionless horse drawn carriage would be more comfortable than an M-113.
The Challenger seems to be doing well with the exception of the one hit by a 152mm round.

Well I guess we can't say the Russians haven't tried something in the last 12 months...

They don't seem to be making a lot of progress for the casualties they are taking.

I saw a few videos about it and I think they do it to force the Ukrainians to deploy forces to counter this attack from the south. The Russians are pretty good at wasting their resources. If I allow myself to speculate, I think the Russians have a problem to move their forces around when the Ukrainians are pretty good at detecting Russian movements and to hit their logistic routes with artillery and missiles

Russian aircraft production at its best...

It seems the Russians recruits women prisoners to fight in the war. If this is true how much more can the Russians take?

Another interesting fact about the war. Seismographs detects the war in Ukraine

Not sure what Russia is going to do once they run out of 3rd world villages and prisons to draw from because life for Putin will become less nonchalant once he has to round up the kids of Moscow and St Petersburg's wealthy to fuel his meat grinder.

It must be hard to serve in or be proud of a military made up of murderers, thieves and rapists.

In other news it is rumoured that ATACAMs has arrived...

It appears Russians do have a sense of humor, seems the key to destroying the Abrams is to hit it with a large caliber weapon.
I may have missed my calling, I could have been a Russian strategist as I could have given them that knowledge.

One thing he didn't mention is how he was going to get his poorly maintained, arse backward, prone to exploding chunk of metal within a kilometer of a vehicle that can see him at 6km and destroy him at 5km.
My money is that the first Abrams kill will be to a 152mm artillery round.

Russia continues to waste resources in suicidal attacks. Ukraine seems to have launched what can be a major offensive close to Kherson
