It was a plan to poison the German food supply with radioactive material by Enrico Fermi, supported by Oppenheimer and Teller. The head of the Manhattan project Groves was familiar with the idea since he was involved with a team of scientists concerned about Germany doing the same to America.

What tank was nicknamed after a common cigarette-lighter, and what cigarette lighter was it nicknamed after?

The Sherman was called the ronson becuse of its incendiary qualities. Unfortunatly the Sherman brewed up more than most other tanks of the period. The Germans called them Tommy cookers.

This is another easy one.

What was the name of the battleship that was running her trials at Brest when the French were defeated in 1940. After escaping to North Africa, she went to Dakar. There, she was attacked by a motor launch which dropped 4 depth charges under her stern. She was then attacked by torpedo bombers on the 8th of July. Though crippled she used her15in guns to defeat another attack.

When she re-fit she joined the home fleet at Scapa flow. After a re-fit at Casablanca she went to the East Indies and eventually Indochina after the war.
