Thoughts on the Russo-Ukranian War?

Well I suspect this is why we haven't seen much evidence of a Ukrainian attack.
Seems there may have been some form of leak...

Oops, or it might be something else. I read the satellite observations show the Russians are creating trenches in Crimea. It is too obvious the Ukrainians want Crimea back and it is vulnerable. But Ukraine doesn't need to attack it to make it unattainable

I read that before his invasion of Ukraine, Putin was considering attacking Japan. He must have forgotten about the trouncing Japan gave Russia in 1905.

I assume he also forgot the defense pact between the US and Japan as well as the 7 or 8 very large US bases in Japan, it would have been a very short war in my opinion especially since Russia can't operate an effective logistics train 150km from the borders of western Russia I can't imagine how bad supplies lines would be over the 9000km rail trip between Moscow and Vladivostok.

I think it safe to say the Japanese invasion was little more than someone's dream, was there any indication as to how he was going to justify it?

Population of Japan is 110 million, that from Russia 140 million .
Where would Russia get the forces to occupy and pacify a country with 110 million people ?
And what about South Korea ?
Besides : WHY should Putin invade Japan , a country that is doing business with Russia that is indispensable for Russia ?

Yeah I can't find any real evidence for an invasion of Japan.

It seems the Wagner Group sought to buy Turkish weapons.

I guess what really matters is whether they succeeded or not.

The Wagner Group has been whining about the lack of support from the Russian military so they must find other suppliers.

Is the leak of the documents important?

It is hard to say given that they appear to have been manipulated anyway.

There is always the other scenario that the documents are disinformation.

My first thought about the leak was, this might be a deception

Well something seems odd about the information that is out there but at least the knowledge that it is out there allows the Ukrainians to make changes or not depending on how accurate it is.

Biden said that the important thing was not what was leaked, but the leak itself .
This is contradicted by the fact that the leak said that NATO forces are fighting (and thus killing Russians ) in Ukraine, something the WH always denied and something the WH tries now to minimize by saying that the US special forces in Ukraine have as mission to ''help '' the embassy .
I thought that US embassies are guarded by Marines .

Who didn't think there would be a small number of allied military personnel coordinating their support in the region?
As for comments about embassy security personnel, they are ludicrous if we are buying into that then are also American troops in Russia, has Russia been invaded?

I have no doubt there are small numbers of Syrian, Iranian and North Korean personnel on the Russian side, it doesn't mean they are taking an active roll.

From what I read about the documents, they aren't on the top level of secrecy. A lot of military personnel have access to information and they are talking to each other about things they shouldn't share with others. The documents are also depicting the situation a few months ago.

One of the main missions of the US Special Forces is to train foreign forces so it would be strange if they weren't in Ukraine with SF units from other countries. The Ukrainian forces have received training by advisors/instructors/SF since 2014.

There are also volunteers from multiple countries fighting in Ukraine

Apparently he was assigned to an airforce intelligence unit and now he will be assigned a prison cell.

There is no proof and it is totally unlikely that Syrians,Iranians and North Koreans would be in the part of Ukraine that is occupied by the Russians .
Why would they be there ?
The Russians don't need them :the Russians can handle drones and did so before Iran sold them drones .
The risk of Iranians, North Koreans and Syrians being killed or worse :taken POW is also too big .

Of course there are, the last estimate had 500 Syrian personnel in non-combatant roles in Ukraine, Iranian military personnel were reportedly helping train Russian troops in the use of its drones and several reported killed in Ukrainian missile strikes on Crimea.
