Actually I think the exact opposite in the picture labelled "Union Re-enactor" because there is no way in a sketch that we could know he was a re-enactor.

I like the German WW1 soldier but the helmet is "funny" however the medic is excellent.
 
Another field study. This took about 5 minutes which is about 4 minutes too long if I was trying to capture live action. Unless my subjects cooperate and stand still awhile I will miss too much detail.

Interesting observation. I tried to stay faithful to the photo. I'll see if I can find it (I should start keeping copies)
 
I like the way you're anatomically sketching these men.( As said before).
