Thoughts on the Russo-Ukranian War?

Germany has an election pretty soon. We will see if they change their behavior after the election. Do Americans realize they will be losing all their bases in NATO countries if they exit NATO. Maybe even their base in the Indian Ocean, the British own that base, the Americans are renting it. They will be losing access to the sonar lines between Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom and the Keflavik base in Iceland.
I think a Germany with Merz might show some spine, Scholz will be a continuation of the spineless approach and christ only knows what sort of goose stepping mess will occur under Weidel but at least the sales of brown shirts will go up.

There has been a political wrangle going on between the UK and US over Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean as the UK plans to return it to its owners, but it seems they will retain control of the base.

My guess is that the Trump and his team of nutters are so arrogant that until Europe sends them packing they will carry on believing they are masters of the world but until Europe sort themselves out nothing will really change.

I think we shall start a fundraiser to help the jolly ole England.

It would be fun to see the orange man's face if the British did it

It would be in the UKs best interests to find the money given the wealth Greenland possesses.

I am still hoping Ukraine rolls out the guy from Snake Island at the start of the war to tell Trump to go fu k himself.

It seems the US is not supporting Ukraine anymore, but that can change. Trump can change his mind pretty fast. Now it's time for the Europeans to step up if they can.

What I think this process has shown is just how compromised the Whitehouse is, my opinion is that Trump doesn't know what he thinks from one hour to the next, listening to him is like listening to your grandfather explaining how a smartphone works, he has no idea of the facts and he can't remember what he said from one minute to the next and then gets angry when corrected.

Vance is nothing more than the yapping terrier they insist on bringing with them when they visit, you smile and pat it but can't wait until it goes home.

My belief is that yesterday we witnessed the USA abdicate its role as "leader of the free world", the question now is can Europe get out of its own way long enough to fill the role, they have everything they need they just lack the will power and unity to make it happen.

European NATO countries and EU have the resources to do it, but it requires a lot of work. The Europeans need to coordinate the arms industry to avoid having several countries making the same stuff.

I react more to how the European officials react to all this. This is not a surprise. We have known for a very long time about Trump's perception of Europe and NATO.

I don't doubt the EU has the resources I doubt they have the will, I think they are still hoping the US will sudden shout "April Fools" and they can go back to blissful ignorance.
I am convinced the first step to fixing both the EU and NATO is to build in a suspension option, nations that don't want to contribute don't have to but they stop getting a say in what the majority want to do, what does Hungary for example contribute and is it worth the veto power they effectively have?
Next, I would be inclined to split NATO into three independent but overlapping groups Northern, Central and Southern with the four/five largest economies being in all three but each group has the say on who joins it not the entire collective organisation. (This would be a NATO without America).
