1862 Battle of Ft. Donelson continues. The US Navy gunboat squadron engages the fort. USS St. Louis & Louisville are damaged, Commodore Foote is wounded along with 57 other casulties & the squadron withdraws
1863 USS Queen of the West captures the New Era #5, then shortley after runs agound under the guns of CS Fort Taylor & is abandond with the crew escaping on New Era#5 & the CSS Cotton chasing them down river
1864 Union troops occupy Meridian, Miss & begin destroying the town.
