young marines

Young Marines is a great organization, when I went to go check out CAP and Sea Cadet Corps there were plenty of times when I was just sitting doing nothing and in Young Marines I was up doing PT and drills/marching OR doing atleast something the whole day..not saying CAP and NSCC are bad programs they are all great, but I'd prefer Young Marines especially since i will be a future Marine.
 
In the '50's I belonged to the Jr. Marine Corps in S. CA. We drilled and played war games, actually it served me well when I was later drafted.
At the Draft Center in LA a Gunny Sgt. walked down the line and picked ever 7th man (I think) for the Corps. I was picked but some guy down the line volunteered, so I went on to a career in the Army.
 
I wish I could do YM but there isn't any of them near me to go to. That's fine though I'll be joining the corps in a years time or so.
