A force of 2,000 men under the command of Lt-Colonel John Combe (11th Hussars) nick-named "Combeforce".
Combeforce consisted of 11th Hussars, with a squadron of the King's Dragoon Guards (KDG) and an RAF armoured car squadron (which was later to become D Squadron of 11th Hussars); the motorised 2nd Battalion The Rifle Brigade, and a small number of 2pdr A/T guns of the 3 RHA and 'C' battery 4 RHA

Its related to the carburator used with Rolls Royce Merlin. The engine cuts out under negative G, unlike fuel injected engines used by the Germans.

A Miss Tilly Shilling in Farnborough developed a partial cure for the problem, by placing a diaphragm across the float chambers with a calibrated hole in the carburator.

Miss Shilling was a famous pre-war female racing motorcyclist, who became a design engineer who worked at the RAE in Farnborough, until the mid 60s.
