The G36, is not a roller-locked blowback like the MP5, G3, etc. It has confusing red dot and tele sight system, profussion of cheap plastic moldings, the iron sights are flimsy, and it's not very good for longer range shooting. On the positive, you can put rounds through it like no one's business and it won't jam (works just as well under normal range conditions as it did in the mtns of A-stan.) It's reliable and doesn't hurt your hand in sub-zero temps. All in all, I'd say it's a good rifle for conventional troops, but not so great for more specialised units.
