What do you smell right now?

I smell Success!!!, as i have just managed to remove a particularly nasty Malware program (or maybe two) off a computer owned by a pair of aged pensioners. It was very aggressive in that when any exe file was executed, it appeared to copy parts of itself to other locations. Frustrating in the extreme....

For the moment it's fixed, no ads for 30 minutes or more whereas it was popping up 2 or 3 a minute previously interspersed with false virus and worm warnings that appeared to come from Microsoft Security Centre these were also ads in that when clicked on led to several sites promoting an alleged fix that was actually more Malware (bestsellerantivirus). It now reboots without going to a blank screen. (about:blank). I've still got about 300 gutted files to remove though.

Time for a brewup.
