Software and I'm sick of it. But for every problem there's a solution. I'll find this one soon enough. Right now I have no audio. No security, nothing.
Hackers probably. Viruses I'm sure of. But it's only a computer and can be replaced. Miss the music and what comes with it.:read::bored::love:

What version of windows are you running, what AV are you using, and are there symptoms other than having no audio and no security, because if that is all, I doubt that it's anything serious.

(1) Have you tried Restoring your System to a time before the problem arose?

(2) Try running sfc/ scannow from your Command prompt to repair any corrupt Windows System files. Click Start, All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt and type in sfc /scannow and click Enter. Do not stop this process whilst it is still running as it may take a little time.

Have you tried downloading and running,
Avast AV http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html,
SuperantiSpyware http://superantispyware.en.softonic.com/

All of these are Freebies and even if they can't fix the damage they will usually remove the bugs or at least let you know exactly what the problem is so that it can be manually disabled.

All that will remain then is to reload any programs or services that may have been corrupted, if sfc /scannow hasn't already done it.

You have kids, madam? Have them have a look at it!

From personal experience (I am a Mac man and completely lost with PCs and Windoze) either my kids could fix the Windoze machine we had in the house fairly rapidly, or if not, they had some friends who would jump in and fix it as fast as we fixed the radios of our parents when we were younger.

Just an idea,

Wasn´t that the "mothers" one before? Just curious, might be that I am starting to suffer Alzheimer (what the Spaniards call "The German Friend" ... :) )

Well, this song has (with a few others) its anecdote with me: When I was in Boarding School we were not allowed to listen to music, so everybody had (more or less all were from rather wealthy bg and our parents all had a bad conscience for having sent us away from home) a tape recorder like one of these:

We used these (forbidden for adolescents) at night under the sheets to listen to music, and PF was one of my favorites, I used to sleep either with "Atom Heart Mother" or with Jethro Tulls "Thick as a Brick", those were the two "cassettes" I owned.

One day (that must be 1970+), with help fo the 18 yrs old (who could have all music equipment they wanted, hence had powerful amplifiers and loudspeakers) and the ingenuity of us 15-17 yrs old we set up big loudspeakers in the windows towards the center court and, at 0200 or 0300 in the morning connected the "Scream" from Dark Side of the Moon (end of "The Great Gig in the Sky"), directly followed by "Fearless" and blasted the whole school with what I remember to have been thousands of Watts...

Imagine the chaos that evolved, all the teachers (who lived in-house as well, in the building top right), running out to the central court, and all pupils pretending they were sleeping totally unidsturbed... I imagine the pranks of today are more hardcore, but this really was a memorably good one for me... :)

Interestingly later someone used this scream to animate the painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, so here it is (and the spoken text also makes me feel at home...), have to turn your volume well up to simulate our prank... :

As far as I can remember they weren't really big here in Australia. I certainly don't remember their music being played regularly on the radio here during the 1950s. I'd say that The Mills Brothers music was better known here.

In fact I wasn't aware of them as a group until the late 1960s by which time they were well and truly finished. Pity,....

All of the songs in my Playlist bring back very strong memories of that time for me.
