Basically the geography makes it impossible. There are no obvious areas you can take and hold which will prevent the US, barring major tactical incompetance utterly dwarfing you on both land and sea and forcing you back. At best you might be able to launch an attack on the west coast, and possibly form some form of line across the rocky mountains, using them to limit the amount of forces the US could send against you.. but after that how are you going to cross the great plains where for the most part there is nothing to hold on to and prevent you being pushed back due to logistical superiority on the part of the US.

No, attacking with nukes isn't much of an invasion and it doesnt' exactly qualify as "A War on American Soil." Its not a good idea either because the USA would instantly fire back and obliterate whoever launches on us.

Anyways, the topic seems to be pointing at having to deal with a full-scale war in America's backyard. That doesn't truly involve nukes.

What if a commander given the orders to hold a zone regardless the costs. Is that considered stupid?

True. It happened plenty of times when terrorists find a weak spot within their enemy. One example would be the USS Cole while in port.

I know where you're getting at. Terrorists organizations such as Al Qaeda develop brilliant but yet very inhumane methods of achieving their goals.

Like Kane said before, there is a difference between becoming stubborn and stupid. However, it depends on the circumstances.
 
Let's return to the subject of the thread - "war on American soil" not the intelligence, cruelty, or anything else attributed to those who practice terror.
 
The one thing about a war on american soil is the fact if we are invaded we have bases all over the world to attack other nations from. So a war on our soil will become a war on the attackers soil also.
 
I still dont see how anyone can launch an invasion on the country that has the best navy in the world, crush one of the worlds top air air forcees, beat through the entire mass of National Guards and reserve units, and than fight off the inevitable huge ammounts of angered americans with allsorts of weapons...America is practically un-invadable in my eyes.
 
Yeah we do have some nice stuff, the best way to come into America would have to be through Canada since it would be a suprise attack. The problem is the Canadian Military realy doesn't pose any threat to us( No offense ment)
 
China has stated that they will launch on the US with a if it is deemed needed. In other words they will launch first and you have to remember they would probably rather kill everyone including themselves than go out of power and be America's/UN's/Nato's *****(no offence but look at germany after WW1)
 
invade america? easy!!!!

first grant 100 - 200 years to break down its economy

then those years will grant military build up for the terroists and countries like india and russia and maybe china

then invaision of canada begins

as well, invasion of the united states of america

invasion will take place soon after spy units destroies fuel factories, fuel depots, anything fuel to the us
