Olympic ranking vs Military powers

Well, glad I missed out entirely on whatever the flamewar was, lol.

The one I don't get is India. India isn't all that far behind China in population. They're over the billion mark. With that large of a chunk of humanity, you'd think they'd turn in a better showing at the Olympics.

Of course it should be ranked by Golds not total, it has always been so officially.

Only Gold counts, Only Winner counts, Silver or Bronze are all Losers.

Look, how about this:

CountryA:
99 Gold 0 Silver 0 Bronz => Total 99

CountryB:
0 Gold 0 Silver 100 Bronze ==> Total 100.

So CountryB with 100 bronze better than CountryA with 99 Golds?

Give me a break, that's laughing, your way of ranking total is in this case so irritating :lol:

The so called "Dream team" is a big loser, bronze. Only Gold counts, that is Agentine, the big winner :D

That and the fact that China gets Gold in those pointless sports like Ping Pong, that have no place in the Olympics, Badmitten is another one, if those sports can be in the Oympics Football should be also, it is atleast the most popular sport in ONE country, tell me, in how many countries is Badmitten the main sport? In how many countries is Ping Pong the main sport? Curling? WTF?

It is a joke.

I think they are referring to an incident when I think it was a Brazilian Goal Keeper missed a block and Brazil lost the game, he was killed by a mob and dragged through the streets.

And then their was the time when I think Nicarauga and Guatemala went to war over a soccer game, they played three games, the home team each one the first two games, so the third game was played in the neutral Mexico City, one country's team won and the losing team's country attacked the winning team's country 3 weeks later.

Yes, but China is starting to be strong in areas that they were not previously. For instance, who had ever heard of there being firstclass Chinese sprinters? But this time around, they won 110 meter hurdles and on top of that, tied the world record. Pretty impressive.

Once China further increases the diversity of the medals it wins, they'll prolly catch up to Russia.
