Nobody "hijacked" the thread Delboy, you asked questions of me, I merely answered them,.... and I answered them in a civil manner.

Well - In all honesty, I have never heard the word 'colonials' used by Brits to describe Commonwealth partners, so that must have died in days before my understanding. On the other hand I have heard it used, and used it myself, to accurately decribe colonial antique furniture etc.
To refer to people, the parlance has always been Aussies, Kiwis,Gurkhas etc.etc.
I think 'colonial' went out with the tea-planters. I don't think we have any out-dated hang-ups of this kind.
Well I still say the Gurkha is getting a raw deal. And whoever made the decision should be ashamed of themself.
Well, if the Gurkhas want a home then I hope, wish, and pray that the USA would give them a home.
Sucks that this is happening. It's truly a shame....
Following MontyB's comments I challenge him to tell us in detail exactly what he considers should be done by the man in the street in Britain to deal with the Gurkhas' predicament. Obviously he has some magic formula for dealing with governments and I would like to hear it. I just hope he is not going to come up with the old chestnut of votes at the ballot-box, which in our case come up at 5 year intervals and when calls for referenda on important issues have been dismissed out of hand. I am sure he will be delighted at my invitation to give us the benefit of his great wisdom on this subject.
The query related to you, not "The Brits" or the Royal "We". What was suggested was "what have YOU been doing about it"Hey, what the hell do you 2 guys think we are doing here, twiddling our thumbs?
