How do you feel?

A..d..d.ic...t..ed.. that wasn't too bad to say!! they do say admitting is the first step.. :D

I'm feeling goood!!!

I had my wisdom teeth removed at 9 this morning, I haven't taken any pain meds, and I feel fine. I'm allowing the sockets to clot by themselves, rather than use the gauze, and, depending on how I feel, I may not take the hydrocodone tomorrow. I will take all of the amoxycillin, though.

Even though I can get it easily enough at work, I'm probably going to save the gauze and hydrocodone for the first aid kit I'm building. Anyone know where I can get curlex?

Any clues? Since this is for hunting, fishing, camping, and backpacking, my main concern is in trauma medicine- assessing and stabilizing quickly, and if something goes south, I can probably plan on it being something like a puncture wound, fracture, or facial or eye injury. I MIGHT try to mooch some basic stuff off of my boss at the vet clinic (gauze, rolled bandages), and I keep VetWrap well-stocked, works great on people too.

AM Leonard makes farm equipment- we just bought some gardening tools from them. Bad link, by the way. I'm not entirely sure if they carry first aid supplies.

Edit- those are erosion control blankets. I'm talking about the Curlex that you use to stuff into a puncture wound to stop bleeding. Remember that my greatest threats are facial lacerations/eye injuries, and punture wounds from an animal attack or accidental discharge, in addition to the routine getting bumped around in the boat, hitting a sandbar, possible hypothermia because you fell out of the boat, that type of stuff.

Good, good. I'm also going to encourage my buddies to get first-aid certified- this is something everyone should know. I appreciate the help.

Your welcome...I just can't imagine what you will be doing to need all this stuff

You all going to blind yourselves and run around with bayonetts or something?

Well, you know, if you're hunting, there's always that chance that something will go south (I always assume the rear position with new people- allows me to see if they're "tactically sound", and give a verbal direction if I need to) Bottom line is, things happen, and I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
