The Highway Man

Even we wouldn't drink in the general Cpls mess - too much scum! if we were having a function, I could obtain permission for a guest as long as I could vouch that you wouldn't get too leary when pissed!
They had to get it filled some how!
Full of bloody Para's anyway. Not even the cheap drinks would get me in there.

So you fear the Paras? Are you afraid they will "jump" on you? I had the impression the RM feared nobody
RM's fear no one.
You've clearly never met British Para's.
I think I met a few in Holland (the Nijmegen March), they were ok, but I was not wearing a cabbage so...
You've done the Nijmegen? Impressive!
They probably bullsh**ted you a lot.
You fail Commando training, you join the Para's.
I never saw the Paras during the march, but before the march began, we went to Arnhem and they were there.
The Canadian war cemetery was a sad place; the Canadian military placed a wreath at the monument and hearing the last post. I walked around the head stones and read their names, the majority was very young
It was a long time ago and there were military personnel from almost all NATO countries and the neutral states participating. From what I remember, I never saw any French.
It's something I want to do one day. It's very popular with ex-serving personnel.
It was interesting and fun to meet military personnel from other countries. There are several interesting places around Nijmegen, Eindhoven, and Arnhem to visit.
I remember when we returned back to the came each day. To take the boots off and take a cold beer, a Dutch beer (Skol), a beer has never tasted so good as that beer.
It was a long time ago, during the Cold War. I cannot remember any Royal Marines, but I was not so good to identify soldiers back then. The Paras are easier when almost all of them are wearing a red/maroon beret, regardless country. I saw a unit from the American 82nd Airborne Division, and they were based in West Berlin, they were wearing a different uniform. It looked like the standard issued BDU, but it was solid grey.
There was a trading going on at the camp. I got me two American BDU uniforms.
I once done a joint exercise with the Belgian Military Police, they were a good bunch of lads/lasses with the same "nick all squaddies" warped sense of humour.
I'm having a moral dilemna about my future and about the decisions I have made over the last 12 years....I'm slowly getting the feeling that I'm banging my head against the wall in my endeavors dealing with the government, both civil and military. I honestly don't know what to do right now.
Feeling super happy after speaking to my man Can't wait for April to get here!!!
