The 112th Cavalry, Texas National Guard, was the last horse-mounted cavalry unit to deploy as a cavalry regiment performing a cavalry mission in WWII. They served in the South Pacific from 9/42-6/42. They seized Woodlark Island in the SW Pacific in the summer of 1943 and then fought through New Britain, New Guinea, Leyte, and Luzon. They ended the war on constabulary duty in Japan.
